Having thought about it long and hard I have decided to let the folding packaging project go. This decisionis based on a number of factors, but the main one is that this kindof work is a prime example of where I am boxing myself in and creating work that is far too tight for the level I should be working at now. I need to be branching out more in a less planned-out way. The direction I was going...
Have been using my time in paint to expand on one of my fine art outcomes, coating the wires for my cubes in deep red/purple. I used these colours to communicate a sense of sensuality, but the end result closely resembles a pile of bloody guts. In some ways this can also clearly be seen as human form (interior) but colour consistency is important for this piece, so my overall goal has been...
Been researching a number of different unconventional packaging options for my body parts project. I have chosen to create a series of fold-out origami style boxes, which also give a large space to work on visually once unfolded. The boxes can be made from a single sheet of card and can either be held together with a number of slots or a single piece of exterior adhesive, such as a sticker.
For my fine art outcome I have constructed a metalwork piece from a single sheet, representing some of the key erogenous zones on the human body in 3D spirals, heating the metal to give it a rainbow colouration on and around the erogenous zones. The end result was essentially what I had planned out in the first place, but after reflecting on it I can now see ways in which I could add to or rework...
In painting I have been creating a large number of potential motifs for my future body part packaging. Taking a leaf out of Jenny Saville’s book, I have experimented with generous/enthusiastic application of paint in order to get across a sense of passion and sensuality. Working with sensual colours such as deep red, purple, orange (mostly hot colours) should keep the exterior packaging...
